  1. Most wake boarders don't get new boats "every year"  Old boats are sold in the market place.

  2. Typically the boats that pull them in competition belong to the event sponsor or to the tour. Those boats will usually go to execs of the company, or be sold as demo boats, or go into service away from the cameras.

Pro boarders and skiers have their own boats provided by their sponsors and those may last on their lake for one, two, or more years depending on the sponsorship deal.

Again those boats may go back to execs of the company or be sold as demo boats.

It is in the best interest of the boat company to keep the latest and greatest on the water. It is the best way of advertising your product. There are multiple high-end wake boats on my lake, and none of the boarders have the skills that require them. "I want what the pros ski with" is a common mantra.

  3. no they keep them if there not damged

  4. I sold "MasterCraft" for many years in North Atlanta.  We were the only M/C dealer in the Southeastern U.S. at the time, therefore, a "big" M/C dealer.  When in town these guys would come as a way to advertise and for customers to meet.  In 2005 the #1 Competitive Wakeboarder in the World, I think his name was Patrick, came for the weekend.  He did bring in a crowd, but NOT our market to buy boats.  I was not impressed, a young cocky kid, did not seem to well educated, BUT, he could act "however" because MasterCraft paid him a lot of money and he travels the world in "Competitions".

He was NOT a sales person.  I knew more about the MasterCraft company and boats, but, that was NOT his job.  We did talk and I did begin to "like" him as time went, I "truly" was impressed next day.

I did ask about his relationship with "MasterCraft" and incentives they offer to him.  They would offer him a new boat annually, approx. 3 models to choose picked by M/C with a choice of engines.

MasterCraft offered at very good discounts, to "dealers", such as us, to purchase.  We, in turn, sold as "demo" boats.  These boats looked new, maintained by MasterCrafts techs, therefore, quality expected from M/C.

Boaters, wakeboarders, skiiers, etc. familiar with M/C had seen "competition" on ESPN and other sports channels.  These boats have the M/C logo and "design" and really looked good on TV.  A "huge" selling point was placing from "competitions" a particular boat was used, buyers "ate this up".  When I sold these we had on display the actual boat the "wakeboarder" mentioned above won his #1 ranking.  A customer came to ONLY look, when he saw this boat and information, SOLD!
