Question:

Do profiteers brand UK workers as lazy to cover their greedy schemes.?

Are you sick and tired of reading that British are too lazy, too stupid, too unwilling...... when in fact its bad management that makes certain companies unable to pay a decent living UK wage.

Surely a UK based job should attract a wage that takes into account the cost of living in the UK.

Is blaming the people a bad excuse or smoke-screen to profiteer?

  1. Yes totally agree,,we work more hours than most other European nations,we have some of the lowest life expectancy, have lower quality of life and are called lazy,,What with soaring inflation and low pay rises, coupled with constant demands of work efficiency and expectations of taking work home it just goes to show that those in power or who have power are getting very rich on the backs of those they call lazy,

  2. Hiya Jory,

I think it is both a bad excuse and a smokescreen.

    Do you trust business people?

There is usually another agenda when they open their lying mouths.

    English workers are not lazy.

I have been around the world, and believe me, there are some real donkeys out there.

    Any Arab for instance.

Spaniards like their siestas too much.

French? Don't like any competition, and love striking, demonstrating, blocking ports blocking roads, burning the channel tunnel....in fact anybloody thing but pulling their lazy fingers out!

Even their coppers can't be ar*ed to do their jobs properly.

English management however is on the whole... full of c**p.

    They like mission statements

    Conferences

Meetings for the sake of it

Training workers with certificates worth less than the printed paper.

Whenever a company does well in Britain, it is because the management and workers work as a team, with a common goal.

A member of my family was waiting for a help to turn up yesterday, the management screwed up, and the lady couldn't be turned.. bed bound quadriplegic!

  3. English workers ARE lazy, we might not want to admit it, but its true. My girlfriend came here from Romania one year ago, looked at the amount of unemployement and said "why are these people not working?" she then put an advert in the paper for cleaning work and guess what, she now has more work than she can handle, she works her **** off and charges £10 per hour, and the English women keep telling her "oh I couldnt do that it's too much like hard work" or similar stupid comments. Why do you think that so many immigrants come here and end up as Millionaires, its because English people sit on their backsides saying "oh that wont succeed" or "I wouldnt want to wash cars" see how many immigrants just work their arses off and make a fortune, if immigrants take over this country you only have yourselves and the poxy sell you down the river government to blame, WAKE UP AND STOP BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD FOR WHAT IS AN ENGLISH PROBLEM THEN WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH IT.

The reason English keeps coming up in the answers is that the old "Special Brew at 9am" mentality is alive and well here as each successive government has been telling children "hold your hand out and you get money" until it stops and we stop making excuses for being lazy it will not change.

I have a friend who is a tube train driver in London, a few years ago he was out on strike, when I asked him why he replied "I dont really know, they are striking for more pay but I get nearly thirty grand a year, I have never had so much money in my life but the union said we had to strike" an awful lot seems to be more about greed or excess than anything else. I think that today he is earning about £40,000 or just under, no doubt they will have to strike again soon as its not a lot, is it???

Remember British Leyland and Robo The Red? or any other of the many English companies that have been forced into liquidation by people burying their heads in the sand only for the same sort of business to start up abroad and corner the market. Yes, there are millions of very hard working and good people here but we do need to address the issue of our lazy youth etc as it will soon be too late.

  4. People who have put their backs into starting a business and keeping them running (often by putting everything on the line as security in order to gain investment) are entitled to profit from their businesses in our society. Unfortunately, many people are under the illusion that they have a right to a job regardless of who pays them despite not really wanting to do anything positive for that business.

I know several small business people who are sick and tired of employing people who just don't give a toss, and who have problems getting out of bed on a Monday or Friday morning. It costs so much to employ people these days (not just salaries but all the costs of administering an employee) that it's no surprise that small business owners are throwing in the towel and setting up one-man online businesses.

The problem is that it's not just small businesses. Even many of our largest companies have senior line managers and middle-management staff who really haven't got a clue what they're doing or how to manage people properly, so it's no real surprise that everybody else is so demotivated. I'm amazed at how some of our large companies survive, to be honest, given the prats who are making the decisions.

Lots of companies have a graduate-only recruitment policy, but when you see what they're capable of you quickly realise that many of them can't even write a proper sentence with correct grammar! Yet they want the best salaries, with all the benefits packages, company cars, etc.

You only have to look at the way many questions and answers are written on this Answers site to see the standard of literacy we're dealing with - so is that in itself lazy or what?

  5. The benefit system has wrecked the UK workforce. Most other workers are hard working ,good ethical people. Us lucky ones have very good jobs, specialised trades, self employed, work when we want.  It is wrong to class the whole workforce as lazy as this is untrue.

  6. High level managers are paid high salaries and bonuses even if they are incompetent, while the ordinary workers are monitored and watched in order to meet the company's turnover and profit targets. The banks have lost billions and are making staff redundant while the directors still take their huge bonuses. The managers at BAA (Heathrow) and Railtrack took their bonuses despite engineering disasters. British workers are sick and tired of long hours, surveillance and below inflation pay rises while their incompetent managers enjoy their corporate benefits, fat pensions and bonuses.

  7. Well we are unwilling to do the not so nice jobs.

Whats so bad about people saying that? It's true.

Decent jobs do actually attract a decent wage, if you are skilled and/or educated.

Immigrants and people from other countries are doing the jobs we'd rather not do, so if people want to moan that they are taking all our jobs, why don't they go and study or train to be something higher up, where wages are high and the jobs they are not doing.

  8. Of course.......it's easier to blame the workforce!

    headlines like

Minimum wage will rise to £5.73

Hardly encouraging for alot of service jobs - catering, hotels etc

Minus council tax, rent & bills people would be better off on the dole than working a 37 hour week for that money.

  9. the majority of english workers are honest and industrious, the majority of employers are the same, it's the minority on both sides of the fence that create the problems and divides
