If psychiatrists are trained in medicine and they are an M.D., wouldn't they be able to do this, besides they know alot about medication?

  1. They are completely qualified to give shots.  However, it's generally not their job.  That's what nurses are for.

  2. Since they are technically a doctor, they can do what you are saying. They can stick a needle in you (of course in the places he is educated in).

However, it is generally the nurses job to do this small things since the doctor does not only have one patient after all.

  3. Giving shots is so way below them. They prefer to conduct the prefrontal lobotomies and electro shock therapy. Gives them some sort of kick to see their patients turn into vegetables.
