  1. If your hands are shaking you're doing something wrong.  You do NOT have to hit the bag with all your might, nor should you.  The best way to hit the bag if you're a beginner, is to use half of your power, never all.  Stand close enough so that your arms are not fully extended.

It's like aiming a jab or cross at an opponent's head or body.  To get the most of your power you want to position yourself where your arm isn't fully extended.  Only, with the bag, you're not trying to hit it with full power.

One other thing.  Don't try to be macho and hit the bag without gloves.  It makes  you look cool but I guarentee you will pay a price in the long run.  Take the time to wrap your hands and wear bag gloves.

The heavybag is good for total upper body strength.  Believe it or not you can even develop your abs with regular use.  It's good for shoulders, back and the different chest areas as well.  It's a good workout if used properly.

    Good luck.

  2. Well what kind of bag are we talking about. Standing or heavy bag. They don't build to much muscle they help you work on power and accuracy. The shaking could be a good or bad sign. If your not using gloves or wrapping your hands then its bad. If you've been hitting it for a long time with lots of good force then its good.

  3. It helps build strength in your upper body as well you wrist.

If your hands are shaking you should wrap them and put on some bag gloves

  4. Anything you do will help build, strength, or somehow improve a muscle. Punching bags will help to some degree but it's there to make your muscles more powerful, not necessarily bigger. As for shaking hands, it's because they are being hit too hard. You either need more padding or need to relax on your punches. Maybe your form is off. Don't bang the bag too hard without proper protection or you might lose sensation and feeling in your hands when you get older.
