  1. Since a harem is a stable of women married to a king, or sheik, ummm I doubt it.  Why would she want one?

Do you mean a male counterpart?  That would be so completely immoral, that even the kingdoms where the men do that would never allow it.

  2. no, but it seems that prince charles had a harem. lol.

  3. Hmmm, interesting question but I can't quite see Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth with a harem.  Maybe her nominal predisessor Elizabeth I  --naw she was the Virgin Queen. (hat is how we got the name Virginia-Madonna had nothing to do with it.)

Then who?  Queen of ...nope. No western monarchs would dare.  Besides do you really want a bunch of men sitting around doing needlepoint all day?  Would never work.  <G>

  4. if you mean a harem, then no, not usually.  However, female reigning monarchs have often enjoyed surrouding themselves with attractive men.  elizabeth I certainly did this, and used to get very angry if any of her favourites got married, though it is unlikely she ever slept with any of them.

Catherine the Great liked to have attractive men about her too, and it seems that in her case she did sleep with them.  She probably came closer to having a harem than did Elizabeth I.

  5. What is a "herem"?

...or did you mean "harem"? Good grief, where do you get these ideas anyway?

  6. No,Queens donot have harems.

  7. I'm not aware of any kingdom ever having male harems.  Male harems don't make a lot of sense.  First, when the woman gets pregnant, you wouldn't know who the father is, and lineage is often very important.  Second, until very recently, cultures were more often concerned about not having enough people rather than having too many.  One man with several wives can produce many more children than a man with one wife, while a woman with many husbands will produce the same number of children as a woman with one husband.  Its the women of a population that control population growth.  They can only get pregnant every couple of years (at best).  Men can impregnate a nearly infinite amount of times.

  8. No.

  9. Technically, the word "harem" refers to the women's quarters in a traditional Arab household. It comes from an Arabic word meaning "forbidden" (as in, men other than a woman's husband or blood relatives are forbidden to visit that part of the house). So to answer your question, it's possible that queens in Arab countries do have "harems" in the sense of a private, off-limits-to-men living area.
