Do "nose gear shock strut" and "nose oleo" mean the same thing?

  2. Technically the oleo is the inner cylinder and damping o*****e, but in practice the terms are interchangeable.

  4. yeah, but oleo is the part coming out of the top of the piston.  The strut could refer to the whole assembly, but the "oleo" usually refers to the part you're looking at during pre-flight, i.e. 4" of oleo etc. etc.
