  1. Oh Yes!

I've had 13 dogs (rescues and fostering) a cat, birds and now a rabbit. Of all the animals, I must say a rabbit is best suited for those who cannot afford to stay long hours at home and to have noises which might trouble neighbours or yourself.

I have a rabbit for over 3 years now. He lives in our living room and has daily freedom when we are around. Like cats they are naturally "litter trained" unless it is an unneutered male, in which case it will use its urine to mark territory (daily), when it is a new arrival or when its home is moved. Unfortunately, if you overfeed them they will leave a few or many accidental droppings around your house.

You only need to change their litter twice a week, which is much less than dogs or cats.

Many people believe their urine smells bad, but the fact is that a huge amount of pee left standing for over three or four days will have a terrible smell, which is also true for humans.

Rabbits are unable to make noises, unless it is terrified to death.

The best part of being a rabbit owner is all the cuddling you give, which is wonderful to distress you and sometimes, when they are happy they will start jumping and running around for no reason.

    Upside:

Noiseless (except for the rattling of the water bottle and the odd floor scratching)

    Low maintenance

    Mellow

    Clever

    Loves cuddles

Low vet bills (only need to see the vet once a year)

It will be ok when you cannot give much attention as long as they are fed.

    Downside:

Fur gets everywhere as it is very lightweight.

There will be no welcome home when you are back from work.

    A bit stubborn

Gets slower and quieter as the years passes by

Gets traumatised easily. (Never be harsh on them as they never forget danger and might be scared of you for life)

  2. yes they make great pets and give just as much affection as cats and dogs in their own little way

becuase they live indoors they bond with you more than ones left outdoors

they are easily litter trained and will keep you entertained, plus theres tons of things you can play with your rabbit!

just make sure you rabbit proof as the other poster said and keep it outta trouble

but they dont rewuire as much supervision as say ferrets lol

i was gonna get a house rabbit but the crazy ferrets were calling my name!

  3. Yes. They are such easy pets to look after.

But you have to pay a lot of attention to them so that they do not get bored or depressed.

    Hope This Helps!!!

  4. Dude they are awesome!!!  After you get tired of them, you can eat them.

  5. Yes but you will have to completely rabbit proof your house! By this i mean cover up ALL wires, even if you don't think the rabbit could reach and chew a wire, it will find a way! My rabbit that has no front teeth still managed to bite through our Wii sensor cable! Also it will need to be toilet trained to go in a litter box like a cat, so it does not mess up your carpet. If it lives in a cage, then it will have to be large and also have lots of play time out of the cage (The cages that you can buy in pet shops are not nearly big enough, as they provide no space for the rabbit to run around!) I would suggest making a pen for it to live in, or keeping it in a spare room, as this will give it more space when it is not safe for it to be running around the house. You will also have to watch where you are stepping all the time, as rabbits seem to do their best to get under your feet! hope this helps :)

  6. well yes :-) youl probs get bored after a while lol. most keep them outside in a shed or somethin :-) dogs r good pets :-D !

  7. No they make good lovers

  8. yes if you dont mind they p**p ALOT :)

  9. YES! defiantly!!!

Rabbits are great house pets, You can train them to use a litter tray and even walk them using a lead, However the rabbit would not nessercerily need this because it has the space of your house to run about!

The only problem with a rabbit living indoors is that they can sometimes bite through wires. There are 2 solutions to this, have hooks installed on your walls to hold wires up (out of a rabbits reach - remembering they can stand on their hind legs) OR buy a wire 'tidier' this is a plastic cover to put over a group of wires to make them look tidier... however it also deters rabbits from chewing them. (just make sure the wires are not visable.

Just remember that it will need a bed (for comfort similar to a dog or cat) and they will still need jabs to protect them from viruses such as myximatosis.

The larger the rabbit the better, however i have trained drawfs to live in a household enviroment before and they have lived very happily in this enviroment.

One last thing, at first your rabbit may hide alot so before you allow your rabbit to roam on its own i would advise you let it get used to 'scarey sounds' such as the hover and childrens shouts whilst kept in a cage.

    Hope this helps!

  10. Absolutely they do however, you must put as much time into them as you would a kitten once you get the little furry guy or gal. They are very trainable and love attention and will use the kitty litter and they will sleep on your bed. In fact, they will play. The way they play is that they like to hop straight up in the air and run. Rabbits are great, sweet animals and make tremendous pets.

  11. yes my nan found a rabbit once that had escaped and got lost anyway she kept it as a house pet it had a litter tray and loved roasted peanuts, they make good hous pets

  12. our rabbit comes in the house sometimes

  13. They can if you are willing to litterbox train and give them plenty of time out of their cages or possibly if you have no threats and can "rabbit proof " the house you could give them free roam with most of the time with access to their cage.

I have a dutch and a lionhead-I adopted the dutch and she has a sweeter personality. We let ours run in the kitchen and keep a gate up just because we have other animals and have stuff in other rooms that could hurt them but they are nice and everything.

Whether you like rabbits or not would be a personal matter but as far as their abilities: they can be good house pets.

  14. it is best to keep them outside in a run in the summer and in the winter if it gets coldbring them indoors or put them in the shed

  15. I don't think so. Rabbits r nice and everything but they c**p a lot and u have 2 b really ressponsible with clean if not there wil b c**p every where

  16. Yes,they are really clean.there will be no looking back.Ours (giant lops)play in the garden of a day-sleep indoors of a night.keeping rabbits in hutches or small pens can be cruel.the only time i use a hutch is if one is with kittens.

  17. house rabbits are good pets, if:

    -- they are house-trained

-- you put some sort of rubber matting around their litter tray (and be prepared for it to be eaten)

-- you find some way to keep them away from electrical wires

-- you are prepared to suffer the occasional ripped corner of wallpaper

-- they can have a corner of the house to themselves - a hutch and connected run

-- you let them out to run around every day or so

-- they get a chance to go sit out in the sun when it's warm

-- you are prepared to have your floor scratched and maybe damaged by...wetness...

but yes, they are entertaining and have personality. if you're prepared for the side-effects, by all means buy some.

  18. rabbits are awesome house pets!! they're quiet, but still vocal....  they're fun to play with, but not needy (like dogs!)......

they're not as expensive as some pets, as you can buy cheap veg for them or even grow it yourself!...

  19. i guess..

    i preffer dogs though

  20. not really.a cat is much easier to look after.
