Do racoons kill cats?

Question

i lost a cat a few years ago and so did my friend. our cats liked to wonder around in a field behind our houses. its 11 acres owned by very wealthy people. weve seen racoons back there and seen their home. is it possible that racoons back there killed my cat and my neighbors cat? nice answers plz! if those racoons did kill our cats im gonna do somethin about them. thx!

well as everyone says curiosity kills the cat... The cat probably seen the coon, fallowed it and cornered it, then the coon could of killed the cat because they do go after small dogs, crows and even some people!

dont kill the raccoons u dweeb.......your saying your gonna do something about the raccoons why dont you do something about your cat seeing as that kills living things aswell to answer your question yes they probably did kill them

We have had 1 of our cats killed by coons and our old poodle was attacked by one! There is a very good chance your cat could have been killed by one.

They will go after kittens, but  a full grown cat can usually outrun them.

If you have thick woods, you're more likely to have a coyote eating any cat it can catch back there.  Or it could also be feral (or domestic) dogs.  The strays in our area are all terrified of dogs, for good reason.  We do have coyotes in the middle of Milwaukee as well, but not in our particular part of it thank goodness.

I'd point the finger at coyotes first, dogs next, and raccoons a distant third.

I've live trapped raccoons here, and they do need to be moved at least 4 miles or they'll come back.  Put them near a water source, with woods.  Do it before snow falls so they canlearn the territory, and don't trap in the spring when the mothers still have babies around that they're teaching.

Its very possible that raccoons killed the cats but that's nature. Don't be ignorant and start killing the raccoons. Its not like the raccoons had some vendetta against you or your cats. Stray/Loose dogs also kill cats. Snakes. Birds of Prey. Coyotes. Cars. Accidentally falling out of a tree..Psychopathic people like Jeffery Dahmer....dont put all the blame on the coons!!
