  1. Since everyone hears the same delay, everyone has an equal chance.  The delay is usually only turned on when a live caller is being put on the air and since many DJs record the winning caller for playback later, it's rarely used during those contests, at least not at the 5 stations where I am chief engineer.  I'd be more worried about the folks who use speed dialers and multiple lines, which are often outlawed in contests, but difficult to prove are in use.

  2. Some do, some don't.

If you know when a contest is going to be, I would recommend calling before they even tell you to call

Call with multiple phones, and remember that cell phones are slower than land lines.

  3. It's really just how fast U R ready. I won a trip to Jamaica on the radio & no one was more shocked than me when I got thru!!!!

  4. When you attempt to call the radio station, you're calling in seven seconds after what you heard on the air, but it shouldn't affect your ability to win a contest, since everyone else is hearing the same thing as you. Good luck!

  5. With the out pouring of phone calls I believe that causes the delay. I know our station had lost all phone connections because of so many!!
