Do radio stations ever play songs in fast forward.?

It seems like whenever I listen to my local hip-hop station, they play songs a little tiny bit faster than they are suppse to be. I was thinking that this could be because they want more time for radio commercials or something. Is there any way that this could be true?

  1. Yep you'll hear it every once in a while, it's usually if their on a tight schedule.  Just ignore it or change the station I guess. :)

  2. Just the way we all down load music and listen to it "digitally" through our computer or i-pod, music stations get their music in a similar way. Music stations have not played records, tapes, or CDs in a long time! They have all the music downloaded and each dj has their own touch screen where they choose the song they will play next or they can let it play automatically. To answer you question, there is a master switch to speed up songs ever so slightly (but not commercials cuz those are timed). Trust me, I know!
