Question:

Do rangers have to live on base? Please help!!?

My husband and i are moving to Ft. Lewis Washington and we want to live off base i think and he said we might have to live on base is it different for rangers will we be on a waiting list or what i dont understand this stuff i need as much info as possible

  1. If you don't get a hit from someone up there or that knows "100% for sure" call the first number at the link. I'm sure if they are not the right people they know who is!

    I did a summer up there in 1987 (Civilain working a job in Seattle). Had a good time. I have family up there now, they have not rusted or been covered with mildew.

If he is required to live on base, they will bump you ahead of the general waiting list.  There are some career fields and ranks that can require the active duty to live within a certain distance of the base and/or on base.  The best thing to do is contact the command your husband will be assigned to and then the housing office.  They can give you the answer specific to your situation.
