Do rats need to go to the vet

Question

i just got a rat first time onwer do they need to go to the vet for anything? or are they okay tell they get sick?

i just want to make sure and keep my baby safe

You could ring your vet and ask but I doubt that most people would take a rat to the vet for no reason since rats cost about $6 and a vet will charge you five times that amount just for walking in the door.

this is totally up to you. if you have the money to take your rat to a vet, then you definitely should. Not a lot of people who have rodents take them to vets. Since they don't need shots or anything like that, it is not really important to take them. But a annual check up is always a good idea if you can afford it. also, you should find a vet near you that takes rats incase your little babe gets sick or injured.
