They do, but don't usually collect unless the property closes. They earn their commission by selling your house, which is the motivation for them to market it correctly and get it sold. You will have to sign a listing agreement and it will probably include a fee if you cancel the listing before it expires. READ EVERYTHING before you sign and you don't have to sign ANYTHING right away.

They charge to sell your property.  There shouldn't be any cost up front.  The commission is collected at closing if the property sells.  If it doesn't sell, you don't pay.

a commission is charged. There is no standard fee, however I see a lot in the 4-6% range. With so many homes currently on the market you may have to pay more to get your house sold, depending upon your market
