Do recent elections indicate that the Blair/Brown "New Labour Party" is becoming extinct? Voting against Blair/Brown has been phenomenal.

Nothing is forever and political parties are no exception. How will future British politics be re-configured?

The Conservatives emerged out of the old Tory Party (the original moderates) whilst the Liberals (originally the right-wing party) emerged out of the old Whig Party and have since amalgamated with the Social Democrats. "New" Labour itself was born only 10 years ago as a right-wing hijacking of the real Labour Party and already seems like a spent force.

  1. Definitely, I think consdervative getting in is inevitable. Britain has been worse since new labour came in. Hospitals, prisons, schools, immigrants, Political caorrectness, everything is rubbish.

And where labour used to be for 'the working man' it's now actually against the good old tax payer. People that don't want to work and just keep having chav kids after another get free money and rent wheras peopel that work have such high tax prices to pay.

  2. Seeing as Blair is retired, I think we can say Blair/Brown is indeed extinct...

Otherwise, it seems likely the Tories will get in (God help us all) but this is nothing unusual; Governments swung between Tory and Liberal and Tory and Labour frequently, they haven't gone extinct. They might adapt their policies before the election after that, but I don't think the party will collapse

I'm confused by the fact you seem to think the Whigs/Liberals were right wing...? Disraeli aside, Tories have always been right of Whigs/liberals. And currently today, all parties try to occupy the middle ground (I thought New Labour was a response to Michael Foot highjacking the Labour party and hightailing off with it to the far left, which alienated many. People actually prefer to vote for the middle ground). It will be interesting to see if the Liberals make a comeback though.
