  1. Yes they need replacing with new ones

  2. The number of recharges depend on some factor as what charger did you use(fast charger, normal charger), the way the batteries are used(if you discharge them quickly it will die sooner), and of course what kind of treatment are they put to. If you charge them all day they will surely die in an year or two. But to make them lat longer you can try to discharge them until they are not able to start the device they are put in. After that connect them to a very small consumer(a small light bulb, a motor that consumes very little amount of electric energy). When they are truly discharged, you must charge them as if they were new. If you do this..they will last longer. The same thing works also for mobile phones. Obviuously, the manufacturers say 1000 times, but only in laboratory conditions, when the charge and also the discharge is..let's say ideal or perfect. But you don't have their equipment and the chargers on the market are as they are..

In a short sentence: their lives will decrease with time, and that 's normal.

  3. It depends on the type of material used to make the battery cells. You have quite a few, nickel cadmium, lead acid, nickel metalhydride, lithium ion, just to name a few. They will have their own operating characteristics and life span. They do have a finite lifespan (They don't last forever). That also goes for battery powered tools (Cordless Drills) etc, and things like your ipod battery. Also the flash memory in the ipod will eventually burn out (So to speak) after a certain amount of song saving/deleting. Cheers mate.

  4. The more you charge it the shorter the life span, to lenghten the life span you should charge them when the battery runs out completely not all of the time.

  5. The ones I have can be re-charged up to 500 times, not that I keep track of how many times they have been done.

I would imagine that if yours are getting hot quickly and not holding much of a charge then they are on their last legs and will need replacing soon.

  6. about 1000 times i think......

  7. Yeah, most batteries should say how many times you can recharge them from empty to full, on average.

Charging batteries that have not been fully exhausted will also shorten the battery's lifespan.

  8. They usually reckon they'll last for about 1000 charges - but remember, that's ONLY if you COMPLETELY discharge them EVERY TIME first - otherwise the old "memory" kicks in and you (and they!) are knackered ! ! !

  9. yes most you can only recharge 100 times or close to that.
