Question:

Do regular baby jack dempseys go good with albino baby oscars and plecos in a 30 gallon tank?

I know that i asked the same question with electric blue jack dempseys but they are less aggressive than regular ones but any tips with working with these guys? what plants and hiding spots shoul i put in there and also how big should the pleco be.

  1. Yes I have 2 oscars and 2 dempsy and also a pleco that I have had since they were young and they get along well...they have grown up and now are in a 55 gallon tank.

    The only thing is they will have to be moved to a bigger tank as they get older and bigger themselves


  2. For a while, but all those fish will quickly outgrow a 30gal tank.

    Dont bother with real plants, the cichlids will rip them up. Plastic ones they will just drag around the tank.

    Get a pleco thats bigger than the cichlids. A big pleco wont harm the cichlids, but big cichlids will eat small plecos.

    Bear in mind that ONE of each of those fish (3 total) is going to need about 100 gallons eventually.

  4. All of these fish will get to be up to a foot long. 30 gallons isn't big enough for them.
