  1. Permanent residents of the U.S. with green cards follow the same rules as U. S. citizens in visiting Mexico.  You do not need to use a passport to travel to and from mexico by LAND or SEA until after SUMMER 2008.  You DO need a passport NOW to FLY to and from Mexico.  You must use your passport from your home country as only U.S. citizens may have a U.S. passport.  See website below and read top half of the page carefuly.
