Do restaurants make their own whipped cream or do they buy the cans of prepared whipped cream?

I'm sure they buy it, unless you are at a diner where they have homemade food, then they may make it.  A high-class restaurant may also make their own whipped cream.

cheapo places by canned whipped cream... mediocre places use CO2 cannisters for whipped cream... nice places make it by hand...

They buy it, it usually comes in a bag.

It depends on the restaurant. Most buy the cans with a propellant that fluffs the cream up as it is dispensed. But there are several who do whip cream. The problem is that whipped cream does not hold for very long and has to be whipped up frequently. So the cans are more efficient.
