  1. Riders and trainers really love both.  They like horse racing and love to be around horses.

  2. Horse racing is a business and it is a profession for many. Many people have gotten involved in horse racing because they do like or love horses and want a career with them. Through my time spent at the track, I've known many wonderful horse loving people. But, like anywhere in any profession, there will also be dummies that hate their job and shouldn’t even be there.

  3. A person without a passion is not going to last a week on the backside.

  4. Successful riders and trainers demonstrate a unique affection for and to their profession.  Working with thoroughbreds requires an intimate devotion to artful skills of managing daily and matinee routines.

Angel Cordero, Steve Cauthen, and Lafitte Pincay are good examples of riders.  Allen Jerkens, Jack VanBerg, and Carl Nafzger are examples of trainers.

  5. There's a lot you can do to be around horses without being in racing, so I'd say those people like racing too.  It might be something about the money as well... if you're going to be around horses, about the most lucrative way to be around horses is to be in racing.  You can't own a show horse and make any money back.

  6. i used to do horse back riding & racing. i honestly did it just to be around the horses <3 i love them

  7. they do it for the fun of it
