  1. Its completely different for all makes! The best thing to do is try them on or check size charts on a website or in the catalogue.

  2. Depends on the brand and the model. But usually yes. I have a pair of Ariats (which are one of the more popular brand of boots) and I wear a size 9 1/2 regular in both the boots and my regular shoes.

  3. Western?? or English??

I wear western. I have found Justin's are 1/2 size larger than my tennis shoes. My Ariats are the same as my tennis shoes. & My Ariats are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn!!!!!  You best bet is to go try them on, for the 1st time. Then see what fits & what is comfirtable. After you know what fits & what you like. Because they ALL fit differently!!!!!! Save yourself time & hassle & try them on first.

  4. It varies a lot by brand.   If you're looking at taller boots, you need to match not only foot size but calf size, too.

Best bet is to visit a tack shop and try on a few.
