  1. You can not play with a hard cup, but there are several company's that make compression shorts with a soft cup built in.  Look on www.worldrugbyshop.com for products with protection for the family jewels

  2. real rugby players don't wear cups

  3. Hey, it'd be like playing cricket !!!!

You should go for compression shorts or for jock straps. Keeps your crown jewels....well....in good order.

Try the link below. However it's best if you can buy your stuff your self. Don't go by brand names. What you feel comfy in is what you want.

  4. h**l no do you know how uncomfortable it would be running with that on.

  5. No, anything hard is forbidden, and cups arent really necessary. We do not wear anything made out of hard materials, However, we can soft shoulderpads to protect our clavicles, "scrum caps" and leggings but they are optional. Any brand will do, there really is no difference (but leotard gear is more comfortalbe).

Hope it helped, and good luck!

  6. No Rugby player that I know of does.

Just compression shorts to keep stuff in place. You shouldn't ever get hit in the gonads if you are going into contact properly.

Do bring a mouth guard. The ones that cost a couple of bucks and that you can mold in a cup of hot water are fine.

Good luck, it's a great game.

  7. No

  8. h**l no, the only equipment that players used to wear were either a scrum helmet for the pack players to protect their ears, sliding shorts under the shorts and a few wore gel-like shoulder pads which provided minimum protection
