  1. yes they do!!   Moreso with the 400 and less,,,, they do sell spikes of varying lengths, so the  longer the distance the smaller the spike needed.   I did use a small spike when I ran the 800,,, I could get 2-3 runs then had to replace the spikes, they wear down quick,,,

it does help a bit,,, just look at the start of every race you will see a person slip sometimes,,,

I think its partially the shock of the Gun, and nerves,,, that 1 misstep could be the difference of 1st and second,,,

  2. Yes, they do often improve times, particarly in sprints, in the distance races?  They can also help here as well, but you have to know what you are doin or be prepared to learn the hard way with sore feet, I posted some tips on CC(Cross Country) tips for running with spikes for this girl here...

  3. yes. they grip better and there are different spikes depending on your event. there are short, middle, and long distance spikes. 400 and 800 meter are the middle distace andi think you can figure out the rest.

  4. Yup.  They will help you get a faster start and get more out of each stride.

  5. i mean i DONT find them very effective for the mile or above but for short distance i find them very effective.

  6. Oh yes they do, and don't doubt it for a second.  Switching from shoes to spikes for the first time in a race made me feel like I was flying!  They are terrific, I shaved 5 seconds off my 800m time the race where I wore spikes (Even if it wasn't the spikes, it certainly raised my confidence level ;D ).  But yeah try 'em, they're great!

  7. Of course or runners especially sprinters would not wear them now what do they provide Grip so you don't slip especially in poor wet conditions especially at the start and the power you put through your legs goes into forward momentum also they are light and designed for the job which is to get from A to B as quickly as possible

I would also suggest maybe open for debate you put on your spikes you are telling your body through  your brain you intend to run fast
