  1. Yes, satellites are usually insured for their full value, so that the worst-case scenario (i.e. a total loss) is covered. Most policies cover the satellite for its entire operational life, but it is possible to buy coverage for the launch only, separation only, or in-orbit only.

  3. Most homeowners policies provide some coverage for satellite dishes and their equipment (receivers).  The company I work for - our polices provide coverage up to 500 and you can purchase an endorsement to provide more coverage.

    Your best bet is to contact your agent and find out how your policy covers satellite dishes. Polices can be different from company to company and state to state. Just because the company I work for provides coverage for satellites does not mean your company does.

    Now....if you are talking about the ones in orbit --can't tell you anything about those. Most likely those are self insured by the US government (or what ever entity  that owns them). I have never heard of a company that provides insurance for space equipment.
