Do school coaches get a salary in the states?

If so what is the average salary and can teachers at the school get the coaching salary?

I'm sure it varies by school system and, possibly, state. My stepdad coached golf and I think he got around $6k extra a year.

Sure they get paid. They usually teach classes like gym, driver's education, or shop during the day and get paid extra for coaching after regular school hours. They have to have a college degree just like the rest of the teachers.

In the district that i work in the get about $4,000 extra a year, and to coach you have to already be empolyed by the district.

school coaches definitely get paid.  You'll find that a lot of the school coaches in more rural areas also teach Math or History or some subject that the school can't find a teacher for! LOL, BUT as for the pay and how much they get paid, that differs with EACH state AND EACH school.  Private schools get paid differently as versus public.  High School might be different than grade school or middle school.  Just depends. :)
