  1. It got worse when Everton went downhill.

But it's mostly just friendly banter.

If you want to wind an Evertonian say that you supported them as a child but switched to Liverpool when you were about twelve when Everton stopped winning things.

    Watch them turn purple!

They fall for it every time.

Sorry to say but it does go sour from time to time which is the sad bit.

  2. I don't agree with the question at all. The football spirit in Liverpool is very strong, and both Everton & Liverpool fans know this. There is never violence, there is just bickering & p**s-taking, but it never escolates. If anything, this makes watching the merseyside derby more entertaining, especially if your with people who support the other team.

  3. They are but they are also very good natured and you will see why when you understand that father and son will support opposing clubs as will two brothers. I last saw Everton play over 40 years ago and have never seen Liverpool play so I can not take part in these discusssions due to a total lack of interest

  4. its like any city rivalry... man u and man city ... its because they both wanna be the best from there city.. i personally have no problems with everton ... they do argue over the stupidest things.. but its like that everwhere you go...   Im a liverpool f.c supporter    =)

  5. It's no different than rivalry between any rival football clubs: Man U v Man City.  Newcastle V Sunderland. Leicester C V Notts County.  Liverpool V Man U.  Portsmouth V Southampton etc. etc.

The comments between any rival football clubs can be a bit pathetic but I take it with a pinch of salt.  It's when it becomes violent and people get hurt that I don't agree with.
