Do senior magazine journalists based in New York tend to have agents? If so, recommendations?

  1. That's a new one on me. They may have agents for book deals, and often do, but magazine articles are usually more direct. Of course, it may depend on the author. Let's say someone agrees to write six mammoth articles for The New Yorker over the course of three years; he might want an agent to negotiate the terms. But my guess is, that's rare.


  2. If that journalist has established a reputation that places demands on his or her time outside of work (book signings, media interviews, speaking engagements, etc) they may need to services of an agent.
