I've lived in a house with a gravity fed septic tank and field. I've had it pumped regularly and turn the diverter field valve once a year. Every time I have it pumped (every few years--our county sends us a post card), there isn't much sediment in the bottom. I've asked the guys who pump if I should put
Rid-X in there, they say absolutely not, it's not necessary. But the RID-X box says "once a month"! Seems to me that it's good to add every once in a while so the bacteria and enzyme levels stay high. But I'm skeptical, Rid-X wants to sell Rid-X and my pumper guys may want to make money if my system needs work.
Anybody got experience with issue? Thanks.
