It would depend on what type of Taboos. For example the universal sexual taboos on incest help prevent the prevalence of genetic disease and conflict in the family structures. However there are other sexual taboos that are now coming into question and we may yet to see how they are resolved and changed.

One would think it would restrain procreation... but more than anything it seems in todays world, they merely make a new website for whatever new fetish or whatever... as for reality, I think if a society has a taboo, it will change how people openly think about s*x, though an open minded person will wonder why it is taboo.  Today's societies have taboos on incest, some on Homosexuality, anal or oral s*x, etc - can we sing "every sperm is sacred..."  yet the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, and even renaissance nobility thought of some of these acts as normal and without taboo... I guess the only sustaining taboo would be incest really... a number of famous greeks and romans had male concubines, and females would have girl time as well...  Religion has a great deal to do with taboos... after all, who rails against taboos most frequently?  Hippies?  no...  stuck up conservative people who want power over people... power to tell them what to do, what to think, how to do things, Yet these conservative people also tend to break thier own taboos and get caught in a mess... look at all of the religious and political leaders across the nation if not the world in that situation.

Taboos increase sexual health by preventing behaviour like promiscuity that leads to STD transmission. So, probably. It depends upon the taboo really.
