  1. Don't even think of playing without them.

Whether psychological or not, it bloody hurts when eventually you cop for a kick.

  2. what the **** you dont wear shin pads in league p***y and to that first f*g i play both and league is much tougher ******

  3. Honestly..They don't!...its more of a psycological thing. i also play rugby,i've been playing for 7years and i've never needed shin pads! You do need a mouth guard though,it reduces the occurrance of concussions!

  4. from my experience..it depends on you..what i'm trying to say is..your confident, your spirit to tackle someone in the field..and about the mouth guard..i dont recomend for u to use it.. cause its harder to call for support..call for ball..or even breath when u are running..

    so my advice..

if u go to league...be confident.. be fit..use protection that doesn't effect your movement..the more agility u are the harder those opponents to touch u..

  5. you play without a mouth guard .. ah but its league... you'd not survive in Union....for long

  6. No in RKL you dont really need them. But as soon as you go to RU it is different story.

  7. I used shin pads while playing League until they became an irratant (a bit like Union), But I always wore a gum-shield when playing. I lost two front teeth while cycling, maybe I should've worn it then too!!

  8. The only time I ever wear shin guards in Rugby is when I play Hooker.  The amount of times you get kicks in the shin in a scrum is beyond measure.  Outside of that, I never really thought about using them, so maybe it is just a psychological thing that gives you confidence.

Mouthguard is a totally different story... I would never even think about going out on the field without one.  They are your single biggest protection from concussion and if you've ever had "that" dream where your teeth are falling out, you'll never do it either!.

  9. I play Lock in Union.

Gum shield definitely. Would not play with out one. Also the best ones you can get are from the dentist. They obviously cost more money but as they are moulded to your teeth there is nothing better. I used to have a shop one you mould your self but they never fit that well.

As for shin pads I play in them but then we get involved in rucks I wouldn't bother in League but if you feel better wearing them then go for it.
