All of the Princess ships that I have been on(8 and counting) had great gyms. Not only weights, but all the other kinds of equipment seen in big gyms too. They also offer spin classes, yoga, and other fitness classes. Most of the gyms also have great views all around of the ocean. I would work out every morning, then walk deck 7 several times a day so I wouldn't gain weight. I did OK too.

If your thinking about the freedom family from Royal caribbean they have the very newest of gym equipment... even a boxing ring!

It really depends on which ship.  The newer ships tend to have the better gyms all together.  The rooms are larger and they have more equipment,both free weights and exercise machines. If you are looking to go on a ship with THE best gym, then go on one of Royal Caribbeans new ships, Freedom, Liberty and/or Independence of the seas.  That ship has the best gym that I have ever seen on any ship and I have been on many.  The gym on the Freedom even had a boxing ring and a piece of equipment to test your punching power.

The gyms are great, and VERY spacious! Usually with amazing views of the ocean. They have everything you need to get through your usual workouts. They have all the usual benches as well as several free-weight stations.

Cruise ships have great weight rooms...and some come complete with a FREE trainer!! I also , use the gyms ...
