I had an IOL implanted and I don't even know lol. I am thinking of piggy backing since it didn't correct my nearsightedness all the way. I was a -12 now im a -2 but I have astigmatism of about 2.5

  1. Single focus IOL's do not correct astigmatism, but there is an additional procedure that could have been done during surgery called a limbal relaxation incision (LRI), and it still can be done. Small incisions are made at the limbus to give your cornea a more spherical shape and thus correct astigmatism. Usually it can correct up to 2.0D of cylinder, but you are .50 over. A toric IOL is usually used to correct anything over 2.0 diopters, but since you already have a single focus implant your other option may be laser correction surgery, such as LASIK. Piggy backing does not usually correct astigmatism, but may correct your -2.0 D of nearsightedness. You could also have a combination of LRI and LASIK. Did you have an IOL implant due to injury or after cataract extraction?
