  1. It might. But just because you stop ice skating, doesn't mean that the ice rink is going to close down. Even if only one person skated on the rink, it would still do the same amount of damage. So there is no real point in stopping ice skating.

And don't stop using the fridge. If it does do bad things, only a very small amount. And theres no point in stopping if there are more fridges on the earth then humans. So one less, wouldn't help at all.

Look into some other ways of helping the envirment that really will help [planting trees! If we don't have enough in the future, we'll all die. And it takes hundredes of years to grow them to be huge. So plant one today!]

  2. i think that the coolant is something that does harm.  I think this coolant is used in fridges, but ice skating rinks are made by coiling the ground with freezing lines and adding water.  So no harm there was far as I know.

  3. doubtful. skating rinks work by circulating brine (saltwater) in pipes and thus cooling the concrete underneath the ice to the point where the ice freezes. I don't see how that would emit greenhouse gases of any kind.

probably whoever told you this was thinking ice rinks used the same system as a refrigerator. fridges used to use chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), but they don't anymore.

hope this answers your question. good luck with your skating and have a great day!

(note: I wonder if Zambonis emit greenhouse gases???)

  4. no it doesnt thats bullshit
