Do skinks burrow in dirt/soil?

Do skinks bury themselves underneath dirt? I know they go under leaves and stuff but what about dirt/soil????

  1. dirt and soil they only go under leaves bc they accdentily got out of the dirt and soil so the leaves protect them from the sun till they can get back to the soil


  2. yes many skinks in fact do this if given the time some sand skinks use sand to burrow in and thats the way they live

  3. yeah, the sandfish (a type of skink) gets its name from burying itself and "swimming" underneath sand and loose substrate.

    they bury themselves to cool off, protection, find food, or keep warm

    EDIT: i meant almost all skinks
