Do slide phones get easily scratched if sand or other dirt gets in between when it slides?

I am looking to buy a new phone but my friend says that the slide phones scratche real easy because if you drop it in the dirt then sand and stuff gets in there and when you open or close it it will either scratch the screen. Anyone have a slide phone that has anything to say?

It wouldn't scratch the screen; it would only scratch the middle of the phone, which you can't see anyway.

well, not exactly, but if you through much of dirt you need to clean it sometimes, for more there is no worry, have fun with the same.
