  3. Yes. In fact, they have two, which are often referred to as 'hemipenes' - this name comes from the fact that it was once thought the two had to join together into a single unit for mating. This is not the case - the snake uses only one p***s at a time. They are kept inside the body, lying along the inside of the tail, until needed for mating, when they are extruded from the male's cloaca and one is inserted into the female's cloaca (the cloaca is the single opening reptiles use to excrete, mate and lay eggs/give birth).
