I heard that at night time, you're suppose to turn off the snakes heatlamp. If this is true, then how are you suppose to keep them warm? or is it just that they'll be fine? help please!

  1. Well, you should have a heat pad, but if you don't you can get a black bulb i think it is, which just gives off heat, you just leave the reg. light on during day, and turn the other on at night.

  2. You do not leave a heat lamp on 24 hours. The snakes needs a night cycle or it will be stressed. The sun doesn't stay up 24/7. The sun goes down at night and it gets cooler at night. That's the way it is. If it gets too cold in your house and you're worried, buy a heating pad. But no light at night!

  3. hi, I've got 2 snakes, the corn snake has a heat mat under his plastic tank which stays on all the time but has no lamp and our python has a heat mat which again stays on all the time, he also has a bulb in his tank but it is purely for light not for heat. If your snakes bulb is his heat source then it will need to stay on. Hope this helps.

  4. As long as your area doesn't drop below 60 degrees at night, the snake will be perfectly fine without light/heat overnight. You are supposed to turn off the lamp to keep a day/night cycle which is good for the snake. If you're worried you can get an undertank heater to keep the heat up without light.

  5. I never had a light for my red tailed boa however I had an exotic a emerald tree boa ( beautiful snake with blue eyes) and i kept a heat light on for him all night they need heat and hight humidity and i wasnt about to lose $500.00 worth of snake
