Do soccer balls get affected on airplane rides?

Do they pop under the pressure? im going away for break and am wondering

  2. They would certainly expand at altitude.   Airlines advise to let the tyres down on bicycles when travelling.  I would expect the same should happen to anything else that is inflatable, such as Soccer balls.

  5. Modern airliners often have pressurized AND unpressurized cargo holds on the same airplane. If I were you I would just deflate it if its going in your suit case ( save space too). Even if it goes with you as a carry on the cabin pressure at cruise is still lower than sea level pressure. My advice would be to just deflate it anyway and pump it up when you reach your destination. In any case it shouldn't pop your soccer ball. But it might stretch it a bit.

  6. They should not be affected, most airplanes are pressurized to about Seven to Eight Thousand Feet within the cabin and cockpit. So there will be very little effect to the soccer balls.

  7. depends on the plane, some very old planes, like dc9's may have unpressurized cargo holds
