Question:

Do social situations increase energy levels?

I think I made an observation today:

I live and work with a group of about 40 people. Usually when each segment of the group finishes its work for the night it goes back to the tent to sleep. Lately though we have had to stay until a certain time which results in hours of us just standing around. This time is basically spent just talking or maybe doing some very small jobs and when it is up we go back to the tent. Now usually everyone goes right to sleep but today I notice that everyone is still wide awake on their computers or reading. I feel very energized myself.

So that is my observation. Does anyone know if it is real or I'm just imagining it?

  1. well, from my own experience... I have more stress and heightened awareness in a large group of people so it makes my heart race for a while, but then I always come out really tired.

And I know that when i am tired, talking to a lot of people wakes me up... as opposed to being with just a few people or myself.

  2. Human "personal" communication excites emotions. These emotions excite a very, very, very primitive response in an individual ANYTIME they share them. Lets just say, we worry on a sub-conicous level what our opinions might do to hurt us with other people. Because of this, human communication on a deeper then professional level is EXCITING! Thanks to the animal sides "flight or fight" response. In a more professional level our response have always been picked for us, in a more laid back environment, where actually a bit more emotionally "naked". This makes some people extremely shy, or they can get extremely confident. But keep your people watching skills up!
