  1. In general social work and nursing are comparable in terms of salary - however, social work has many more opportunities for direct client contact that extends beyond narrow roles.  Nurses have very prescribed roles - and are limited in what they can do to help.  The roles tend to be about implementing the orders of a doctor.  Social workers are hired in part to be advocates for clients and to help navigate the system.

    DA

  2. I think it depends on what you are interested. I am a social worker. I have worked in hospice, in a program for teens, in a program for people with AIDS and have had my own private practice as a psychotherapist., and quit a few other things. You can do counseling and there are many types of social work programs you can get into. I have a masters degree. The reason I chose social work is because it is very flexible.

If you are more interested in the medical side do nursing. The thing I personal wouldn't like about nursing is, nurses work a lot of holidays and weird hours.

Talk to people in the field you are interested in and find out what they do, see if it's what you would like to do.

  3. Nurses are far more respected than social workers and you can go further in your career as a nurse.

You can actually save lives as a nurse..

  4. Nurse,FTW.
