I don't know about what Democrats believe, but of course marriage is a social construct.  Just take a look back at history and the roots of marriage.

Why limit that to just democrats?  I'm not one.  Marriage is not exclusive to your religion, nor does a marriage under state law have anything to do with your religious beliefs.

Marriage exists in nearly all cultures, and in every major religion.  Marriage is most definitely a social construction.
