Do some Nascar drivers waste the seat for younger and upcoming talented drivers?

Drivers like S Marlin, D Waltrip, R Gordon, K Petty, K Schrader, B Elliot, should all get out of racing, none of them are any good, and they are just taking a seat that a young and up coming driver would love to be sitting in. Besides that they can really s***w up your week if you end up with one of them in a Pool.

  1. I don't think so they have earned their seat and they deserve to be there!

  2. are you kiding these are the best drivers in history it's the cars it dosent matter who drives these cars they still wont do good. if you put them in a jgr car they would show kyle how to realy race ruff um up and not cry when they got hit.

  3. Well drivers like Elliot and Labonte are basically only in the field for the past champions provisional. Robbie Gordon takes a seat, because he owns his ride same with Mikey Waltrip.

  4. Cough cough Mark Martin.

  5. Some have been good in the past.  I think it's sad, as in Dale Jarrett's case, that some of them just don't know when to climb out of the car.  It is just taking away from their legacy.  NASCAR continues to change, and some drivers just don't have the ability to change with it.

  6. Yes definitely but I won money for having Waltrip in a Pool when we were at Daytona in '03.

  7. Yes and no. Some drivers are still pretty old and still drive well, aka Mark Martin while drivers like Waltrip, Petty, Schrader and Elliott aren't much anymore and should call it quits.

Speaking of Martin, why all of a sudden did he become a full time driver again? Wasn't it just 3 years ago he held all that retirement thing then deciding to drive part time?

  8. That's not even a good though-they earned their seat in those cars. Past champion provisional is to acknowledge what they have been accomplished. I agree to a point, many like to hang on as long as possible-like Mark Martin.

You want to turn NASCAR into F1 where drivers buy their rides?

  9. Well D Waltrip hasn't raced in a while. R Gordon owns his own team, so I think he can make his own choice....and for a single car operation, he isn't doing to bad against the 3 and 4 car operations. B Elliott races for the pure love of the sport now, he is a great driver to help teams out ( like what Skinner did over at Team Red Bull and now at MWR). S Marlin was on the cusp of a Championship when he had a severe neck injury. K Schrader I bet if you put him in good equipment he could run in the top 15 consistently. I still hear about him running late models on dirt, and some modified races. K Petty is part owner, and lately he does step out when he feels someone else can do a better job that is available (Boris Said at Watkins Glen). K Petty lost his edge when his son died, he hasn't raced the same since. He is about the only that should of considered getting out the car a few years ago. The rest I think have earned the right to decide when they don't want to get in a car anymore.

  10. These drivers have earned their seats.Be it by owning the team or being a past champion or just being a steady driver.

There are about 10 younger drivers that should ste out of their rides cause they will NEVER be in the class of the Allisons,Waltrip,Petty,Yarborough,Dale Earnhardt,Bill Elliot,The LaBontes,Bodines

Some of todays are flash in the pans that will not be remembered in 10 years.
