  1. All of the links I provided show the meals for purchase on domestic travel (including, Canada, Central American, Mexico and the Caribbean) in coach class. First class/business class passengers do not pay for their meals. All of these airlines still have complimentary meals on International destinations.

At this time all in-flight entertainment is still at no charge. Southwest does not offer any meal service at all.

    Greyhound: No meal service

Amtrak: Coach cabin, meal for purchase

Sleeping cabin, meal included with ticket

  2. As for someone who does works in the aviation industry, I would admit that the charges for food, inflight entertainment, pillows and blankets are overchaged in some airlines. But the fact that airlines to date are in jeopardy due to high jet fuel costs- and are charging for check in baggages and etc is necessary to survive.  But of course in my opinion; again "my opinion"-  I believe that instead of charging extra for food, comfort necessities such as pillows and blankets and check in baggages- the fees should just be added to of the ticket itself-period. As jet fuel costs goes up; tickets go up- less scrutiny to of fees that are being introduced nowadays. As for the airlines that have fees for check baggages and etc- Here's an overview on a few U.S. airlines:

America and United are posting the $15 first check in baggages/ and the 2nd $25 and so on.

American- $3.00 for inflight food (peanuts or pretzels/blankets/pillows / There is a charge for entertainment items: example headsets are $2.00.

Liquor items are $6.00 each. You have the flexibility to pay for headsets, food and alcoholic beverages with credit cards or debit cards onboard American Airlines.

Southwest: Free for all bev/food/blankets/pillows except liquor items and energy drinks. Energy drinks are $3 each and liquor items are $4.

United- Snack boxes are for purchase $6. Complimentary entertainment headset are available for all flights. Complimentary movies on flights of three hours or longer on all aircraft except Boeing 737s. International amenities

Complimentary video and audio on all flights

Seat back video screens on all international three-cabin 767-300 and 777 aircraft

    Complimentary copy of HEMISPHERES magazine

Pillows and blankets - no fee

Complimentary meal service - on different flight segments and or first class/international flights

Complimentary soft drinks, juices, tea, Starbucks

Complimentary alcoholic beverages on Pacific routes

Delta- Peanuts/lance crackers/and Biscoff cookies are free. Other snacks and meals range from $1 to $10. This depends on how long the flight segment is and if it is an international flight.  Alcoholic beverages are $6.00 each. Entertainment headsets I believe  are $4 each.

Continental- Complimentary pillows and blankets.  Free snacks and non alcoholic beverages.  Liquor items are $5.00. Headset are $5.00 each.  Complimentary meals for flights 3 1/2 hrs. and up. Again varies on international flights.

U.S. Airways- Snack boxes are $5.oo each.  Meals are $7 each. Non alcoholic beverages: Complimentary.  Alcoholic bevs: $6. Pillows and blankets: Unknown.

    Hope this helps.
