  1. Yes. Just call your providers customer service number and ask. If you want to be really clever, ask them which medical diagnostic (ICD) and procedural (ICPM) codes they cover? These are the billing codes they'll pay for. Then make sure these are the codes your psychologist will use. It will help you make sure your psychologist's bills get paid. It will also help you make sure you don't get stuck with the bills.

  2. If you have extended health coverage, your visits to a psychologist will be covered, although the percentage of coverage will vary from plan to plan. Make sure the person you see is licensed; otherwise, you will not be reimbursed.

  3. Yes, most health plans do cover at least part of the cost of seeing either a psychologist or social worker for therapy.  Just be careful of the cost of the therapist.  If the therapist costs $60/hr, but your insurance will only cover $30/hr, then you might get stuck with the other $30.  Check with your insurance provider for a list of social workers they cover.  Good Luck!

  4. mine does.  i just pay my co-pay.  call your plan.  i have BCBS.
