Do someone know about violins ?

well, i'm pretty excited coz i will take violin lessons this summer , but now comes the question , which kind of violin should i buy , used ? new ? which brand ? , i feel overwhelmed coz there are so many brands . i don't know anything about violins , but i want to learn .

  2. Buying a violin can be as overwhelming as buying are - and like you mentioned, there are as many choices!

    New or used is fine - but you'll have to check the sound. If you've never played, you'll need to have someone you trust check them out for you. Some of the oldest violins produce the sweetest sounds.

    When I bought my violin, I bought new (it was cheaper). It was a Glaesel. They make a variety of violins and many good "student" models are available. Mine cost about $400 - $500 (Canadian) 15 years ago.

    If you are just starting out, you could also look at leasing or renting an instrument.
