  1. No, dvd players can play dvds made by any company. The only thing you have to check is that does the player support the type of dvd disc you are trying to play.

    Available types dvd discs : DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-Ram , CD-R, CD-RW etc

Check whether your player support these types of discs.

I've heard that sony dvd/divx players have trouble in playing divx movies. Where you trying to play a divx movie recorded to a dvd rom?

  2. No, as long as your burned DVD has the right format (VOB or MPEG-2), then you can play it on sony DVD player.

  3. You can use any brand of disk in a player. You should know that it is illegal to copy a DVD even for back up purposes. I won't go into the idiocy of the industry in trying to prevent home users from copying DVDs. I will simply say that the music industry eventually discovered that the more copies there are, the more sales they make. Hence CDs do not have any copy protection anymore. The movie industry has yet to discover this FACT!
