You can use any brand of disk in a player. You should know that it is illegal to copy a DVD even for back up purposes. I won't go into the idiocy of the industry in trying to prevent home users from copying DVDs. I will simply say that the music industry eventually discovered that the more copies there are, the more sales they make. Hence CDs do not have any copy protection anymore. The movie industry has yet to discover this FACT!
