Do spacers (seperators) hurt when you get them?

Question

im getting spacers tomorrow. do they hurt? is it only like a pinch when they put it in, and then it aches for a little? if thats it then im okay with that. also, i cant fall asleep! how do i fall asleep faster!?

To be honest the spacers hurt worse then the braces...but it depends on the person

I got them before my braces and if found that it just felt like a piece of food stuck between my teeth at first. Then later on they actually started to feel really sore. When I would eat, it would hurt so i just ate soup. I guess it depends on your pain tolerance but from my experience it did hurt.

myn hurt also for the first two or three days pretty bad, but i only had them in for about a week, but they really do work afterwards

You got it right.

Be prepared for soreness in your gums more than your teeth.

Tylenol works for the dull pain. Anbesol is a great topical way to dull the pain at the site.

ugghss...

imagine putting something between your teeth.. expect a bleeding.. and frankly, it hurts. it will. but it would take you just a day to suffer. you'll get used to it..

oh and the best way to sleep faster? sleep right after the treatment. ok? goodluck! :D

Not really. Your teeth might ache a bit as they move, but if you take an aspirin first you should be just fine.

How to fall asleep: take a nice warm bath and listen to some relaxing music. Then have a cup of hot tea and get into bed; turn out all your lights and concentrate on relaxing each muscle one at a time. When you are totally relaxed, listen to the sound of yourself breathing.

Yeah, they hurt. They were probably the worst part about having braces. After a day or two they're fine, though.

I have had spacers! They hurt fora little while but you get used to them and its the same with braces after awhile u cant even tell ur there!! With the spacers the only hurt when you first get them in because your not used to them!! when you get used to the you will be fine! Oh ya and when you eat with them in you might feel like there going to come out. DON'T EAT ANYTHING STICKY THEY WILL COME OUT IF YOU DO. Just becareful and you wll be fine!!

Not really, it depends on how long you will have them on for and how thick they are, mine hurt for the first two days but not that much.  Don't worry about them, a lot of people get them. It's not as bad as most people think they are.
