Do leeches hurt when they are sucking your blood? I was watching a You Tube video and there is this therapy thing and you put like 20 leeches on your back. I DIDN'T want to do it, I just was wondering.

  1. yes it hurts. the leech has to bit you to draw blood then they hang on and you have to rip them off. Think of is as a bunch of mosquitoes biting you in the same place to suck your blood.

  2. Yes it hurts, but they will eat infection in the skin.

  3. nope

  4. I don't think so. They don't have any teeth to bite! This guy from Jackass had a Leech suck on his eyeball!

  5. there is an anesthetic in their saliva that numbs the skin, which is why many people do not realize there is a leech on them (after swimming or wading) until they see it.

  6. Nope.

  7. Maybe for a split second, if that. Leeches has a numbing saliva, so you might not even know they were there.

  8. noo they dont hurt...

you actually dont notice their there until you see them and they get kinda stuck on you...

they only hurt alittle bit after you take them off.

    i know this becuz i had 2 leeches b4.

  9. no u cant really feel it

  10. No, leeches do not hurt. They have anesthetic saliva so that the host will not notice being bitten, and so will leave them alone until they drop off.

Leeches also do not appear to carry diseases.

So, it's better to be bitten by a leech than a mosquito.

Except that a leech bite may bleed longer than you'd expect after dropping off, because its saliva is also anticoagulant.

Basically, though, quite harmless though creepy looking.

  11. my friend had a leach and he only started freaking out when he saw it . . . he didn't even realize he had it till WE ALL TOLD HIM

  12. Leeches don't have a nervous system and cannot feel pain.

  13. No, leeches don't hurt when they bite. They have a specific chemical in their saliva that prevents the host from feeling pain. This is so the leech can hang around unnoticed by the host and so undisturbed.

  14. it can feel good actually its not good for you though

  15. No, but actually they are related to us Humans. Truth.

  16. Not sure why don't you try it yourself! It depends medically wise it acts like a coagulant.

  17. There were no side effects or infections, although patients described the initial leech bite as slightly painful.
