Hi, im currently in the process of trying to locate a lost friend who moved to Spain along with the whole family about a year ago from the U.K to city of 'A Coruna' , you may have seen me ask some other questions here on yahoo before. I'm just trying to look at all possible areas that could help me. I wanted to ask anyone who lives in or is very familiar with Spain whether there Town Halls will have Public Records of people living in the city or if they have any business's in that city. The person im looking for i know went into business with a relative and brought a shop in Coruna and i aslo know my friend had a few family member's who brought houses there aswell. Would the Town Hall be able to help me in locating my friend? Any advice or help would be of great help. Thankyou

  1. Sorry, don,t even know if they have public toilets.

  2. Hi Adeel, trying to find your friends here will be difficult. The Town Hall do have records but they will not disclose details, even if your friends registered as residents. Do you know any property addresses? Most records here are not public, but the land registry is, if your friends bought a shop it will be registered and therefore public.

This is not an easy search but it is possible if you have time and a few Euros to take out the land registry search.

If you e-mail me the name of your friend I could try a land registry search - no guarantees but I'll try for you.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you luck.

  3. I live in Spain but am more interested in fishing then in Town Halls and systems and stuff like that, sorry. Got a question about sea fishing in Spain then I'm your woman, just ask

  4. Try the Brtish Consulate in the area your pal lives, you should register with them when you come to live here, we had to do so in Malaga, this..... I admit was many years ago, things change but it might be one way of finding them, I am not sure about town halls, they do have land registry offices for you to check the lawful owners of land/houses etc., but this would not help in your case................good luck.........

  5. Because of the influx of immigrants (British) many town halls are struggling to come to terms with everybody. On top of that, many Brits don´t register (padron) to vote or even to take up residency. On top of that the beaurocracy will drive you mad. Data protection is here in Spain to and I doubt they´d tell you. You won´t get anywhere unless you have a translator or speak Spanish. The phone book is the best place to start.

  6. if you buy a house in spain, you have to register at the town hall, because of your rates etc, the spanish for town hall is ayuntamiento, but you will need to know some spanish, because there are not many people there with any english
