  1. Actually, no. They don't.

Cats can purr for two reasons: when they are happy :-) and when they are trying to calm themselves down.

Both cats do the same amount of purring, although female cats seem to be happier most of the time!

    :-]

  2. Any happy cat will purr. By the way, castration is when they remove the male cat's business...just so you know.

  3. hi well ma male cat who is 6 months purrs all the time and ma female cat who is spayed she is 9 years old purrs contanly i thought its cause there happy and contented so i dont think it matters if there spayed or not

  4. yes :)

  5. Spayed cats do purr (although not right after getting out of the vet's office from being spayed!).

As for gender differences in purring, it's more a question of breed and individual personality. Some cats just purr more than others, some less.

  6. I had a female kitten spayed about 1 year ago.  And I had her for a couple of months before getting her spayed.  She purred a lot before and after.

Before that I had a male cat for 14 years. He was neutered at about 8 months.  He purred a lot too....anytime he got positive attention.

  7. of course they do. i wouldnt say less or more. just about the same. gender doesnt have anything to do with it. all cats purr.

  8. Every kitty purrs.  They still purr!!!

  9. Spaying and Neutering only makes them happier:)  I prefer males.

  10. I've never realized that & I've had about 9 cats my whole lifetime, including the ones I do know. But really it depends. I've had a female who never purred, I have a male now who I only heard purr when he was a kitten & another male who purrs literally ALL THE TIME.

  11. Purring is a personality trait and is different in in each cat. I have had cats that purred so loud that you could hear them on the other side of the room. I have had cats that are  so quiet the only way you know they are purring in to feel the vibration in their throats. Fixing them does not change their purr only their hormone content.

  12. they do it all the same they still purr , but my female cat is more loving and been told male cats are even more loving than female cats.
