If not then what fuel do they use? I would like to own a boat and I want to choose the right oil.

Thanks

  1. Power boats that are using converted auto engines use gas at the pump. If it's diesel it's diesel fuel. If its a outboard motor ask a dealer.

Sometimes depending were the fuel comes from, boat docks or any where fuel tanks are in contact with water,  mix alchol with it to burn water out of fuel. 1qt per 15gals max. works in cars also during winter.Be careful of fuel lines.

Racing engines can be using more alchol or nitrous mix.

I use octane booster with alchol mix. with cheep gas.

As for oil use a good racing oil. Hint- put at least a 7qt oil pan on eng. I use a 10qt pan With Valvoline racing oil. Eng will run and last a lot longer.

  2. I seem to remember as a kid driving a boat up to a river-side gas station and filling up from a pump that said 'unleaded' on the side.  That's all I know about it.

  3. Depends on the type of the speedboat.

  4. I own a MasterCraft wakeboard boat, it actually has the same engine as is in my truck I tow it with.  It uses the same exact fuel.  I fill them up at the same pump...

  5. i think so. and if not you can go to a lake gas station and they will tell you or a boat dealer
